PICK MY PROJECT

The Victorian Government has sponsored $30m grant money to be made available to community groups across Victoria, selected by public vote.

We have 2 projects eligible for voting, which closes on Monday 17 September 2018.  

Our projects are for improvements to the HENDERSON PAVILION and are SOLAR PANELS  and REPLACEMENT OF SPORTS FLOOR and construction of DISABLED ACCESS to the front entrance. 

 They are titled :

Rutherglen - Solar Panels for Showgrounds Pavilion  and Rutherglen - Showgrounds Pavilion Floor & Disabled Access

Please take the time to register and vote for our projects.

Voting is quite simple and open until 5 pm on Monday, 17 September 2018.

STEPS

1.   Register for PickMyProject account at www.pickmyproject.vic.gov.au.  If you already have an account simply sign in.  You can register via Facebook, Google or email.

2.   Select your local community by entering your address and postcode.  You can then browse the project ideas in your local community and create a shortlist of projects you like.

3.   Pick your favourite 3 and verify your mobile number.  You'll then be able to submit your votes.

Be sure to share our Facebook post with your friends and ask them to vote.

ARE YOU GETTING READY FOR RUTHERGLEN SHOW

Show and Horse Schedules are now in the shops and here on our website.

As well as the usual classes, and from last year we have again the Lamb Whisperer, Junior Cattle Handling & Judging, Backyard Chooks, and Guess the Weight of the Sheep.

NEW this year we Sheep Judging for Rural Youth, and a new fun event the Handbag Handicap – hurdles for tiny dogs and their owners in the Dog Jumping

The Tug of War last year was a hoot …. who this year will out pull the reigning champions the Apex Club of Rutherglen ???

NEW POLICIES

Policies recently adopted are Child Safe Policy  and Policy on Bullying.  Copies of these are available in our "Downloads".

These policies apply to all activities held within the Henderson Pavilion and parts of the showgrounds under the control of the Society.

 

Wine Show 2018 Dates

Tickets for the 130th Rutherglen Wine Show and the 2018 Australian Fortified Wine Show will go on sale shortly.  You can secure your spot by Pre-Registering for both the Public Tasting and the Presentation Dinner by clicking on the Contacts Tab on our Web Page and filling in the form.

   Judging:                              17th – 21st September

Over a 5-day period Some of Australia’s Best Judges, both Locally and Interstate, will gather in Rutherglen and judge entries from across the Country.  

Wines are blind tasted making the results a truly Independent and Consumer Focused rather than Commercially Focused.  

Our stringent judging process will produce Bronze, Silver, Gold and Trophy Winners in one of Australia’s Oldest and Most Prestigious Wine Shows.  

   Exhibitors Tasting            Thursday 27th September - 10.00 am – 12.00 pm

An opportunity for Exhibitors to Taste other Wine Makers Products on a Grand Scale and to and Benchmark their Wines against some of the Countries Best. 

It is a great opportunity to Network with other Winemakers and Industry Buffs.

Entry is Free to all Exhibitors of 130th Rutherglen Wine Show and or the 2018 Australian Fortified Wine Show will

   Presentation dinner       Thursday 27th September Pre-Dinner Drinks - 6.00 pm – 7.00 pm

Relax and chat with friends whilst enjoying a tipple and wait for your dinner and the all-important Presentation of the Trophy Winners.

   Dinner and Presentations: - 7.00 pm – 12.00 am

Local Restaurateur Pickled Sisters will provide a scrumptious 3 course meal paired with award winning wines selected by our Chairman from this year and previous years shows. 

Enjoy our Chairman’s call of the Trophy Winners and the Presentation of Trophies to the Winners.

Tickets are $165.00 per person and limited to 200 spots and includes a results book showing all the winners and winners scores

The Presentation Dinner can sell out and bookings are essential to confirm your seat at one of the wine industries more prestigious events.

   Public Tasting:                   Friday 28th September - 6.00 pm – 10.00 pm

Sample some of the Countries and Regions Best Table, Sparkling and Fortified Wines including Award and Trophy Winners of 2018 Show, paired with Selected Locally Produced Hot and Cold Finger Foods. 

Tickets are $65.00 per person and limited to 215 spots and includes a results book showing all the winners and winners scores

The Public Tasting is usually a sell out so get in quick.

   Wine Sale:                          Sunday 30th September - 7.00 am – 9.00 am Finish

An opportunity to purchase excellent wine at bargain prices.  Get in early or miss out.  Once the sale starts its finish so don’t be late.

OFFICE HOURS FOR SHOW

The office at the Henderson Pavilion will be attended by the Show Secretary on the following dates/times:

Leading up to the Wine Show  (17-30 September) the office is generally attended by the Show Secretary between 9.30 am and 4.30 pm.

Following the Wine Show the open hours will be:

1 - 12 October (close of entries)           9.30 am - 5.00 pm

15 - 25 October                                     9.30 am -  4.30 pm

Entries for the Pavilion should be delivered by the times nominated in the schedule.  Exhibitors who have difficulty delivering on the date(s) stated may deliver their exhibits prior to that date by arrangement with the Show Secretary (ring 0260 328 044)
