The Rutherglen Agricultural Show is now in its 128th year and continues to retain the traditions of a country show with the addition of fun events for individuals and groups.
An extensive Horse Program is available with Show Jumping, Led and Ridden Horse and Pony events and Fun Ring for novice ponies and riders. Whilst Judges have not as yet been finalised, the program has been published for information. As soon as Judges are known they will be included in the published copy.
The Lamb Expo continues to be a popular event. The Lamb Program carries a trophies and prizes in excess $1000 with the Andrew Campbell Memorial class for Best Retail Trade Carcass and the Gordon Fisher Memorial Trophy for Champion Carcass of Show. Other Hoof and Carcass classes within the Lamb Program, also carry cash and prizes from our additional Sponsors.
Hand Spinning demonstrations show how the fleece from the lambs is turned into hanks of wool for knitting and craft work.
Alpaca and Cattle displays are also featured along with Fleece and Crop, Poultry, and Farm and Produce competitions.

- Dog Jumping Competition for small, medium and large dogs (new this year)
- Nail Driving Competition for ladies (new this year)
- hotly contested Men's Cake and Sauce Competitions
- Trailer Backing Competition for Women
- Music - covers music of 60s and 80s by Little Monsters Entertainment
- Bush Poetry Competition and Bush Poetry performances by Australian Bush Poetry Women's Champion.
The Pavilion exhibits includes all those traditional country skills of Cooking, Home Preserves, Craft & Handiwork as well as very popular Photography and Art sections. The Rutherglen Show has always catered for the young in the community with junior sections in many categories and all of the local schools support the Show by encouraging student involvement. Regular features at the Rutherglen Show include Showgirl and Tiny Tots competitions, a Petting Zoo, Clown, Pet Parade, Ferret Races, Vintage Machinery, Heritage Vehicles, Motor Bike display, Shearing displays, new Caravan and Vehicle displays and an array of Market Stalls. We also have we have the Victorian Showman's Guild with a well presented sideshow alley and fun rides.
